Dana Sipos
Dana Sipos is an ethereal and bone-chilling Canadian folkist who weaves fragments of stories, myths
and dreams into songs that map heart and country and the spaces between. Sipos inhabited the far
north before going nomad. She beguiles and charms, and she'll stop you in your tracks.
On the momentum and acclaim of her first two albums, both recorded in the Yukons wilds, Dana has
voyaged to concert halls and festival stages across Canada and the US. Notable stops include the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the first CBC Great Canadian Songquest, the National Arts Centre, the Dawson City Music Festival, the Southeast Alaska State Fair, the Oregon Country Fair and NXNE. Dana’s music has been featured in documentaries, short films and commercials.
Dana has undertaken several creative tours, including a 500 mile bicycle tour carrying all instruments
and sound equipment and playing bicycle-powered shows. Dana recently returned from a 6 month tour of the American high seas with the experimental tall ship theatre outfit, The Caravan Stage Company.
Dana took to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains for a music residency at the Banff Centre to bring the whispering of her third album to life. Featuring an impressive array of international musicians and recorded in the home studio of Arcade Fire’s Richard Parry, Roll Up the Night Sky is due out in early Spring 2015 on Nashville-based Americana label Muddy Roots Music Recordings.
